In addition to piloting modern Formula and Sports Racing cars, Stefan has been fortunate to experience classic racing cars, including the legendary Type 156 Ferrari. Built for the 1961 Formula One World Championship season and reached through 1964, the "sharknose Ferrari" is one of the most iconic Grand Prix racers from the golden era of F1.
In the Mark VIII D, Johansson unites classic and modern racing cues in a retro-style chronograph with a 21st century accent – a carbon fiber inner ring. Encircled by a chronograph scale in red, the dial also features a “skeletonized” aperture, offering the wearer and other viewers a peek at the automatic mechanical movement, which powers this sporting timepiece.
Legibility under any light condition is assured with Superluminova-coatings on the Mark VIII D’s skeletonized hands as well as the numbers and markers which ring its bezel and hour/minute subdials. The generous size of its fine brushed and polished 47 mm stainless steel case adds another modern touch.
Available with either a silicon-free rubber strap crafted to withstand high temperature conditions or an exotic leather strap in Python or Bony Crocodile (incorporating PVC lining to avoid the excess wear and staining which occur with a traditional leather lining) with red hand-stitching and deployment buckle, this clever chronograph gives a new interpretation to the classic racing watch.
